Symphonic Band A symphonic band featuring players from Temple College and Texas A&M University  ̶  Central Texas will present a concert titled “Friends Old and New” Sunday, Nov. 4, at 3 p.m. in the auditorium of the Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center on the Temple College campus.

The program will include standard wind band compositions by composers who have been active over the past 100 years. Along with other works, the program will consist of “In Storm and Sunshine March” by John Clifford Heed, “Variations on a Korean Folk Song” by John Barnes Chance, “Emperata Overture” by Claude T. Smith, and “Sun Dance” by Frank Ticheli.

Admission is $5 for adults and free for students. Proceeds will help provide scholarships for Temple College music students.

This is the first year Temple College and Texas A&M University  ̶  Central Texas have formed a joint symphonic band. The two schools have partnered to develop a new bachelor of music degree, with students completing their first two years through Temple College and their final two years through TAMU-CT. The program gives area students an opportunity to receive a cost-effective, quality music degree without leaving Central Texas.
